Camping 4 Old Farts
Fun and informative blog on our camping adventures, experiences and disasters. Learning the ropes in your 50's and loving it.
Our camping trilogy
We had both camped out when we were younger, a handful of times, with experienced campers. Most of my camping experience has been on the side of a mountain solo or in a small team. My hubby's bush camping experiences were had during his stint in the army. This meant this type of camping proved to be a hug learning curve for both of us.
We dealt with a few disasters, more than we had bargined for in fact, we had lots of the 'usual husband and wife camping setup arguments' and "what have we done?" moments, 'holding our tent roof and sides up with our arms and legs, during hectic storms and of course a ton of stiff body parts.
We are both convinced that we provided great entertainment for the experienced campers, watching as they relaxingly enjoyed their sundowners, chuckling at our expense.
We embrassingly, took more than 8 hours to erect our first tent, a big heavy canvas dome and double extension, our first tent and then scaled it down to 2 hours. Then we switched to a camping trailer tent, which took hubby a whole 10 mintues to set up!
